After School Clubs

General Information About After-School Clubs

In order for clubs to run, a teacher must be willing to sponsor the club after school and there must be a reasonable level of student interest.  For these reasons, Tohickon clubs may be different from year to year. Currently, Tohickon runs the following clubs:

Farm to Fork - Sponsored by Mrs. Flath (yflath@cbsd.org)
Farm to Fork is a service-oriented club that focuses on harvesting and preparing crops from the Tohickon garden. Students will spend time outside during the Fall and Spring collecting herbs and vegetables as the weather permits.   In addition, students will learn how to wash, trim, prepare and cook, if applicable, the food for use in the FCS classroom and to offer as community donations.  Students who enjoy fresh food and cooking, as well as those who are looking for community volunteer opportunities are encouraged to join.  This club is open to all Tohickon students in grades 7, 8 and 9. Stop by room 408 and speak with Mrs. Flath or e-mail her at yflath@cbsd.org. Meeting dates advertised on the Morning Show.

Morning Math Help Club - Sponsored by Mrs. Bellavance (abellavance@cbsd.org)
Morning Math Help Club Is a Place for Students of Any Grade and Math Level to Receive Extra Math Help Before the School Day Begins. Morning Math Help Occurs Daily, Monday Through Friday, from 7:00 – 7:20 Am with Mrs. Bellavance in Room 201. Students Interested in Attending Morning Math Help Should Come Right to Room 201 When They Arrive at Tohickon in the Morning (at 7am or Whenever Their Bus Arrives at School). Please Let the Hallway Teacher Know That You Are Attending Morning Math Help Before Going Upstairs to Room 201.

Reading Olympics - Sponsored by Mrs. Fox (brifox@cbsd.org)
Reading Olympics is a countywide event that encourages students to increase the quality and quantity of books they read for enjoyment. The Reading Olympics is based upon research which shows that good reading habits form the foundation for a productive and successful life. Reading Olympics is designed to inspire students to read for pleasure and learn the value of teamwork at the same time! Competition is usually in the evening in early-April at Unami Middle School. We will begin our after school and before school meetings in mid-to-late October.

Studio Club - Sponsored by Mrs. Fox (brifox@cbsd.org)
Additional time for the Morning Show students to discuss ideas and film segments for the morning show. By invitation.

The Tohickon Newspaper: The Birdseye View - Sponsored by Mr. Saska (dsaska@cbsd.org)
The goals of the school newspaper are to: inform the Tohickon community about recent school news and events; showcase achievements and talents of students and faculty; promote Tohickon culture; provide a platform for different voices and perspectives; and entertain and engage readers.

Becoming a part of the newspaper team offers an excellent opportunity for students to become involved at Tohickon. In addition to writers, the staff includes photographers, cartoonists, and a team responsible for the digital publishing. This club is open to grades 7, 8, and 9. All meetings will be held after school in room 320. Meeting dates will be announced on the Morning Show.  If you have any questions, please contact Mr. Saska (room 320).

Digital Photography Club Sponsored by Ms. Meadows (dmeadows@cbsd.org)                                                                              The club will run on select Wednesday afternoons throughout the school year for the Digital Photography Club! Whether you're a seasoned shutterbug or just curious about capturing great shots, this club is the perfect place to explore your creativity. Students are welcome to bring their own cameras, borrow one from the school or use their cell phone. We'll be photographing both indoor and outdoor events, learning basic photography techniques, and contributing to school projects. Selected photos will be featured on the Morning Show and in the Yearbook—so come be part of the story behind the lens! Email Ms. Meadows to let her know you are interested

History ClubSponsored by Mr. Pakstis (bpakstis@cbsd.org)                                                                                                      Attention future historians – we are looking for students interested in learning about history through veterans and others who have witnessed key moments in history. Select students will travel to meet and interview veterans. Email Mr. Pakstis for more information.

Acting & Improv - Sponsored by Mrs. Badiali (dbadiali@cbsd.org) & Mrs. Barnhart (abarnhart@cbsd.org)                              Step into the spotlight and unleash your creativity! The Acting & Improv Club meets after school on select Thursdays and offers students a fun, supportive space to explore performance, character building, and quick-thinking improv.
